Hahn - Le printemps

Le printemps

Hahn

Te voilà, rire du printemps!
Les thyrses des lilacs fleurissent.
Les amantes qui te chérissent
Déliverent leurs cheveux flottants.

Sous les rayons d'or éclatants
Les anciens lierres se flétrissent.
Te voilà, rire du printemps!
Les thyrses des lilacs fleurissent.

Couchons-nous au bord des étangs,
Que nos maux amers se guérissent!
Mille espoirs fabuleux nourissent
Nos cœurs gonflés et palpitants.
Te voilà, rire du printemps!

Théodore de Banville

Spring

There you are, springtime laughter!
The fronds of the lilacs are blooming.
The lovers who hold you dear
untie their floating hair.

Beneath the brilliant rays of gold
the ancient ivies wither.
There you are, springtime laughter!
The fronds of the lilacs are blooming.

Let us lie down beside the ponds,
that our bitter pains may heal!
A thousand fantastic hopes nourish
our swollen and throbbing hearts.
There you are, springtime laughter!
